Huawei's innovative split antenna solution effectively addresses capacity challenges
Huawei recently launched an innovative split antenna solution, which can easily and efficiently achieve six sector groups and significantly improve network capacity and coverage. At present, the solution has completed the industry's first large-scale commercial use in AIS in Thailand, achieving a 70% increase in network capacity
limited by spectrum, license, investment, time and other factors, UMTS is still the main source of profit for most operators. However, with the development of MBB and the increase of users, capacity has increasingly become the bottleneck of UMTS development. The expansion methods that should be protected include adding new spectrum, new stations and multi sector groups. However, the spectrum resources have been very limited; New sites require large investment and long construction cycle; Although the multi sector group can improve the efficiency of spectrum utilization of the internal structure analysis of the experimental machine, the traditional six sector group uses six ordinary antennas with 33 horizontal wave width. The interference of adjacent sectors is serious, and the expansion effect is not obvious. Moreover, the increase in the number of antennas has brought new challenges to the tight space, so the scheme has not been commercially available on a large scale
the innovative split antenna solution launched by Huawei this time takes into account the disadvantages of the traditional six sector scheme. In the design stage, it makes full use of the advantages of the same main equipment and antenna manufacturers to carry out collaborative design. With the goal of optimal network performance, through a large number of network simulation and testing, it continuously optimizes the pattern, so that the sidelobe suppression is better, the interference of adjacent areas is lower, and the capacity and coverage are greatly improved. In terms of deployment, Huawei's innovative split antenna enables three antennas to support six sectors by sending two 33 horizontal wave width signals, and the antenna width remains unchanged, which can greatly save space for operators, realize smooth upgrading and capacity expansion at the original three sector site, and promote rapid deployment to comply with construction specifications
AIS, the largest operator in Thailand, moved the world's fastest 2G to 3G users to the textile industry in 2013, and the demand for 3G network capacity grew very rapidly. Especially in dense urban areas such as Bangkok, it is difficult to obtain sites, and AIS is facing great challenges in capacity expansion. After many discussions and tests, AIS finally chose Huawei's innovative split antenna solution to carry out a large-scale UMTS six sector group, which quickly increased the network capacity by 70% and significantly enhanced the sector coverage
ais CTO kriengsak said: ensuring that users get the best MBB experience is our goal of this large-scale network expansion. Thanks to Huawei's six sector solution and split antenna for helping us achieve this goal. We also believe that it will be helpful to other operators
Zhou Taoyuan, President of Huawei wireless network and antenna business department, said: Huawei antenna has always focused on the challenges and needs of operators in the mobile broadband era. The launch of innovative split antenna solutions and the industry's first large-scale commercial use will help operators maximize the use of existing network spectrum, effectively solve capacity problems, improve user experience and achieve commercial success
